Mit der Wiedereinführung der Les Paul Custom im Jahr 1968 brach eine neue Ära an. Gibson veränderte die DNA des Modells im Vergleich zur Ur-Version von 1957 fundamental:

* Der legendäre Rock-Biss: Statt des reinen Mahagoni-Korpus (wie bei der '57er) spendierte man der Custom ab 1968 eine massive Ahorndecke auf dem Mahagoni-Body. Klanglich ist sie die reife Perfektion einer Legende: Durch die Ahorndecke liefert sie genau den spritzig-dynamischen Biss, den man bei den Ur-Modellen aus den 50ern manchmal vermisst. Eine absolut vollendete Gitarre, die nicht nur atemberaubend aussieht, sondern ab dem ersten Riff süchtig macht!
