Man kann „Dealer Select“-Gitarren für einen cleveren Marketing-Trick halten oder man kann sie für überteuert halten. Fakt ist aber nun mal: Diese Gitarren sind einfach saugut. Gibson greift für Musikhaus Hermann ein ums andere Mal ins oberste Regalfach und so entsteht eine perfekte Mischung aus wunderschön gemasertem Top, idealem Gesamtgewicht und fantastischem Ton.

Diese exklusive 1958 Les Paul Standard Reissue bringt genau den magischen Vibe mit, der die legendären Bursts der späten 50er Jahre ausmacht.

Das von MHH handverlesene Plaintop zeigt einen wunderschöne, charakteristische Holzmaserung, die perfekt mit dem Lemon Burst Finish harmoniert. Je nach Blickwinkel changiert die Farbe grandios zwischen einem hellen, ausgewaschenen Vintage-Look und warmen, honiggoldenen Nuancen.

Mit gerade einmal 3,7kg haben wir hier ein absolutes Traumgewicht vorliegen, das man bei einer echten Solid-Body-R8 ohne Weight-Relief selten erwischt.

Sowohl auf dem Schoß als auch am Gurt wirkt sie perfekt ausbalanciert und entwickelt ein ungemein freies, ungebremstes Resonanzverhalten. Schon unverstärkt angespielt schwingt diese Paula sehr laut, mit einem tiefen, holzigen Grundton und einer feinen, schimmernden Obertonstruktur.

Am Amp liefern die unpotted Custombucker exakt das, was anspruchsvolle Liebhaber von einem erstklassigen „PAF“-Set erwarten:

Ein transparentes, dreidimensionales Klangbild. Perlende, nie scharfe Höhen gepaart mit plastischen Mitten, einem fetten aber konturierten Bassfundament und einer äußerst dynamischen Ansprache.

Das Halsprofil ist das klassische 50s Rounded Medium „C“. Es liegt satt in der Hand, lässt sich erstaunlich flüssig bespielen und liefert das Fundament für das schier endlose Sustain dieses Instruments.

Veredelt wurde das Instrument im historisch korrekten VOS-Verfahren (Vintage Original Spec). Das bedeutet: Ein sanfter, matter Nitrolack-Glanz und eine dezent patinierte Nickel-Hardware, die der Gitarre die edle, ehrwürdige Ausstrahlung eines sanft gepflegten Original-Instruments verleiht.

Das Sobrich-Fazit:

Am Ende kann man viel über Specs und Selektionen reden – Fakt ist, diese Gitarre liefert genau das ab, was draufsteht. Eine R8, die optisch, vom Gewicht und vor allem klanglich in der absoluten Oberliga spielt.

You can think of "Dealer Select" guitars as a clever marketing trick, or you can think of them as overpriced. But the fact remains: these guitars are simply incredibly good. Time and again, Gibson reaches into the top shelf for Musikhaus Hermann, resulting in a perfect blend of a beautifully grained top, ideal overall weight, and fantastic tone.

This exclusive 1958 Les Paul Standard Reissue brings exactly the magical vibe that defines the legendary bursts of the late 50s.

The plaintop, hand-picked by MHH, shows a beautiful, characteristic wood grain that harmonizes perfectly with the Lemon Burst finish. Depending on the angle, the color changes grandiosely between a bright, faded vintage look and warm, honey-gold nuances.

Weighing in at just 3.7kg, this is an absolute dream weight that you rarely encounter in a true solid-body R8 without weight relief.

It feels perfectly balanced both on your lap and on the strap, developing an immensely free, unchecked resonance. Even played unplugged, this Paula resonates very loudly, with a deep, woody basic tone and a fine, shimmering overtone structure.

At the amp, the unpotted Custombuckers deliver exactly what demanding enthusiasts expect from a first-class "PAF" set:

A transparent, three-dimensional soundscape. Sparkling, never harsh highs paired with sculptural mids, a fat but contoured bass foundation, and an extremely dynamic response.

The neck profile is the classic 50s Rounded Medium "C". It sits comfortably full in the hand, plays amazingly smooth, and provides the foundation for the almost endless sustain of this instrument.

The instrument was finished using the historically correct VOS (Vintage Original Spec) process. This means a soft, matte nitrocellulose sheen and subtly patinated nickel hardware, giving the guitar the noble, venerable appearance of a gently cared-for original instrument.
