Es gibt Les Pauls, bei denen schon der erste Akkord klar macht, warum die Bursts späten 50er bis heute als Maßstab gelten.

Diese 1958 Les Paul Standard Reissue aus dem Murphy Lab gehört genau in diese Kategorie.

Besonders stark ist bei diesem Exemplar die Kombination aus Gewicht, Resonanz und Attack gelungen.

Mit 3,9kg liegt sie genau in dem Bereich, den Kenner bei einer guten Burst suchen: genug Masse für Druck und Sustain, gleichzeitig aber offen, lebendig und extrem schwingfreudig. Das Heavy Aging wurde hier außergewöhnlich authentisch umgesetzt.

Das Nitro Finish wirkt nicht künstlich gealtert, sondern vermittelt optisch wie haptisch den Eindruck einer echten Burst mit jahrzehntelanger Geschichte. Feine Weather Checking Lines, perfekt eingearbeitete Spielspuren und der typisch matte Glanz sorgen dafür, dass sich die Gitarre vom ersten Moment an wie ein altes Lieblingsinstrument anfühlt.

Das Lemon Burst Finish wirkt je nach Lichteinfall und Blickwinkel unterschiedlich – von warmem Goldton bis zu leicht ausgewaschenem Vintage Burst Charakter – und harmoniert perfekt mit dem intensiv gemaserten Plain Top.

There are Les Pauls where the very first chord instantly reminds you why late 50s Bursts are still considered the benchmark to this day.
This 1958 Les Paul Standard Reissue from the Murphy Lab clearly belongs to that category.

What makes this particular example stand out is the exceptional combination of weight, resonance and attack.

At 3.9kg, it sits exactly in the sweet spot experienced players are looking for in a great Burst: enough mass for sustain and authority, while remaining open, lively and extremely resonant. Even unplugged, this Les Paul is an absolute powerhouse, with a strong acoustic foundation and that characteristic “bloom” only truly great Les Pauls seem to have.

The nitro finish does not look artificially aged, but genuinely gives both the visual and tactile impression of a real Burst with decades of history behind it. Fine weather checking lines, perfectly recreated play wear and the typical soft matte sheen make this guitar feel like an old favorite from the very first moment.

Depending on the angle and lighting, the Lemon Burst finish shifts beautifully between warm golden hues and slightly faded vintage Burst character, perfectly complemented by the intensely figured plain maple top.
