Bereits beim akustischen Anspielen zeigt sich die Qualität der verwendeten Hölzer: Der einteilige Korpus aus Roasted Ash sorgt in Verbindung mit dem 4A Roasted Maple Flame Neck für ein sehr geringes Gewicht, eine hervorragende Resonanz und eine beeindruckende, zugleich stimmige Optik.

Die handgewickelten ’57 Singlecoils liefern ein äußerst dynamisches Attack und einen klassischen Stratocaster-Sound mit schimmernden Höhen, klar definierten Mitten und einem trockenen, präzisen Bass. Das Instrument reagiert unmittelbar auf Anschlag und Spieldynamik, liegt hervorragend in der Hand und lässt sich dank Soft-V-Halsprofil und Jumbo-Bünden äußerst agil und mühelos bespielen.

Yuriy Shishkov, Principal Master Builder im Fender Custom Shop, zählt zu den gefragtesten und angesehensten Master Buildern seiner Zunft. Die Wartezeiten auf Instrumente aus seiner Hand betragen nicht selten mehrere Jahre. Neben seinen eigenen Masterbuilds ist er auch als Mentor für die nächste Generation von Fender-Buildern tätig – unter anderem für Kyle McMillin, der seine mehrjährige Ausbildung unter Shishkov absolvierte.

Shishkovs Instrumente sind keine Serienmodelle, sondern individuell realisierte Masterbuilds, bei denen Authentizität, Detailtreue und Spielbarkeit im Mittelpunkt stehen. Ziel ist stets das Spielgefühl und der Ton einer außergewöhnlich gut erhaltenen Vintage-Gitarre, kombiniert mit moderner Zuverlässigkeit. Yuriy Shishkov, Principal Master Builder at the Fender Custom Shop, is widely regarded as one of the most sought-after and respected master builders in the industry. Waiting times for instruments built by him often span several years. Beyond his own masterbuilt instruments, he is also known for mentoring the next generation of Fender builders—most notably Kyle McMillin, who completed a multi-year apprenticeship under Shishkov’s guidance.

Shishkov’s instruments are not standard production models but individually realized masterbuilds, where authenticity, attention to detail, and playability take center stage. The goal is always to capture the feel and tone of an exceptionally well-preserved vintage guitar, combined with modern reliability. Hallmarks of his work include thoughtfully shaped neck profiles, finely tuned electronics, and hand-wound pickups, often in collaboration with Josefina Campos.
