Es gibt Instrumente, bei denen man die Besonderheit erst auf den zweiten Blick begreift – und es gibt diese Made-to-Measure R4. Das „All Gold“-Finish bricht mit der Konvention der klassischen Natur-Rückseite. Eine extrem seltene aber historisch korrekte Spezifikation, die der Gitarre ein einzigartiges Erscheinungsbild verleiht.

Korpusboden, Zargen und die gesamte Halsrückseite wurden ab Werk im tiefen, authentischen „Double-Gold“ lackiert.

Dieser spezielle Farbton wurde von Gibson entwickelt, um die Optik und die Alterungscharakteristik des Originallacks aus den 50ern möglichst originalgetreu zu reproduzieren.

Die Interpretation des Murphy Labs zeigt hier eindrucksvoll, warum Tom‘s Team in Nashville Maßstäbe setzt. 

Das wohldosierte Light Aging verzichtet bewusst auf grobe Beschädigungen oder simulierten Missbrauch. Stattdessen zieht sich ein feines, unregelmäßiges Netzwerk aus Haarrissen über das gesamte Gold-Finish. Es ist genau der Zustand, den man bei einer über 70 Jahre lang perfekt gepflegten Vintage-Gitarre erwarten würde. 

Haptik und Spielgefühl unterscheiden sich fundamental von modernen Standard-Gitarren. Durch das chemisch modifizierte Murphy-Lab-Nitrocellulose-Finish fühlt sich das kräftige '54er Halsprofil eingespielt und organisch an. Die Hand fühlt sich sofort wohl auf dem satten, schwingungsstarken Halsprofil, was in Kombination mit den perfekt abgerichteten Authentic Medium Jumbo Bünden für eine komfortable Saitenlage und mühelose Bespielbarkeit sorgt.

Mit einem Idealgewicht von ca. 3,85 kg liefert diese R4 ein Resonanzverhalten, das seinesgleichen sucht. Die mechanische Kopplung der einteiligen Wraparound-Brücke direkt in den Mahagonikorpus sorgt für eine Direktheit im Anschlag, die an eine gute Telecaster erinnert – nur mit dem gewaltigen Fundament einer Les Paul. 

Die Custom Soapbar P-90 Pickups fangen dieses Schwingungsfundament kompromisslos ein. Sie matschen nicht, sie komprimieren nicht unnötig. Am Steg beißen die Mitten superdirekt und knorrig, während der Hals-Pickup eine warme, fast glockige Klarheit liefert. There are instruments where you only realize how special they are at second glance – and then there is this Made-to-Measure R4. The "All Gold" finish breaks with the convention of the classic natural back. This is an extremely rare but historically correct specification that gives the guitar a truly unique appearance. The back of the body, the rims, and the entire back of the neck were factory-finished in deep, authentic "Double Gold". This specific shade was developed by Gibson to reproduce the look and aging characteristics of the original 1950s lacquer as faithfully as possible.
